Assistant Professor of Public Relations and Advertising
The Reynolds School of Journalism, recipient of national awards including American Advertising Federation, Hearst, and AEJMC diversity, seeks a creative and collaborative Assistant Professor of Public Relations and Advertising. The successful candidate will teach classes for graduate and undergraduate students in public relations and advertising principles and practice and contribute to our new online master’s program in Strategic Public Relations and Advertising. In addition, our new colleague will establish a research or creative agenda and pursue grants for interdisciplinary research.
This position is a tenure-track, nine-month, academic-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. It requires a terminal degree or ABD. Professional experience is valued, as is expertise in one or more of the following: SEO, marketing, advertising technology, sports media, health communication, and Spanish-language media. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2025.
The Reynolds School has built a reputation for curricular innovation, experiential learning and a collegial climate for both scholars and practitioners. We participate in both the Public Relations Student Society of America Bateman Case Study and the National Student Advertising Competitions. Our programs include Noticiero M6vil bilingual news service, the Center for Advanced Media Studies that supports faculty scholarship, the Reynolds Media Lab, and the Mick Hitchcock, Ph.D., Project for Visualizing Science, an interdisciplinary initiative that reimagines how science is communicated. The NPR-member stations and digital outlets of KUNR Public Radio are part of the Reynolds School.
