Assistant Professor of Practice in Advertising and Public Relations

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Journalism and Mass Communications is seeking an assistant professor of practice in Advertising and Public Relations to join our award-winning program starting in August 2025. The responsibilities of this non-tenure track position will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in advertising and public relations; helping to develop course offerings, initiatives, and programs focusing on advertising and promotion; as well as connecting students with the professional community. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of our curriculum; provide service to the college, university, and profession; and other assigned duties.

The UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications is accredited by the ACEJMC and offers majors in advertising and public relations, broadcasting, journalism, and sports media and communication. We create a student-centered environment providing hands-on experiences to enhance learning outcomes through programs such as the Experience Lab and student-run agencies. Students are successful in national competitions, collaborate on research, and complete internships with recognized agencies and companies in leading markets.

Minimum Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in advertising and public relations, journalism, mass communications, or a closely related field and professional experience in advertising and public relations.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching expertise in advertising and public relations and professional experience managing teams related to client-specific work.
