The Opportunity
The Department of Communication in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Public Relations at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval. You will be expected to contribute to the Bachelor of Communication Studies (BCS) program through teaching, research, and service, and play a vital role in developing core and option courses for the new PR major.
You will teach a variety of PR courses or courses within the BCS degree program, conduct scholarly research, mentor and support students, develop curriculum, help promote the PR program, and participate in service to the department, faculty, university, and community.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree in Public Relations or a related field (Ph.D. preferred) and demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program.
You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae and teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations). These documents should address the following requirements:
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at university level
- Significant professional experience in public relations
- Demonstrated potential for successful scholarly research
- Expertise in digital PR strategies and emerging technologies
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
- Demonstrated community engagement through professional practices
