Ball State University seeks an innovative, collaborative, and future-focused scholar and practitioner to serve as the next dean of the College of Communication, Information, and Media (CCIM).

Reporting directly to Provost Anand R. Marri, the next dean will champion the college’s mission to develop ethical practitioners who stand to make a transformational impact in their fields and on society.

Consistently ranked among the best schools for media and information sciences in the country, CCIM trains communication specialists, cyber security analysts, film and documentary makers, journalists, news and sports broadcasters, public relations professionals, researchers, and scriptwriters.

The college comprises the Department of Communication Studies, School of Journalism and Strategic Communication, Department of Media, and Center for Information and Communication Sciences.

CCIM directly oversees Ball State’s NPR and PBS affiliate stations, student radio station WCRD, the Unified Media Lab, the Ball State University Speaking Center, the Applied Research Institute, the Center for Organizational Resilience, and the Esports Center.

A newly established Office of Student Success and Belonging operationalizes the college’s commitment to enhancing each student’s academic journey and supporting their well-being and success.

Among the college’s facilities are several of the newest buildings on campus, including the state-of-the-art David Letterman Communication and Media Building.

Located in Muncie, IN, Ball State serves approximately 20,000 graduate and undergraduate students across seven academic colleges with 190 undergraduate programs. Ball State offers more than 140 master’s, doctoral, certificate, and specialist degrees, many of which rank among the best in the nation.

As the chief academic and administrative officer of the college, the dean is responsible for the development, modification, and administration of academic programs, financial resources, and personnel to advance the college’s strategic goals and priorities.

Ball State seeks a dean with a sophisticated understanding of the communications and media industries and the opportunities that exist at the intersection of communication and technology. Evidence of scholarly and/or professional achievements that merit a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of professor at Ball State is required. A terminal degree in a relevant field is preferred.
