Dean of the School of Communication and the Arts
Marist College invites nominations as well as applications from innovative, collegial, and entrepreneurial candidates seeking to become the College’s next Dean of the School of Communication and the Arts. The school is set on Marist’s stunning 242-acre main campus in the historic Hudson River Valley of New York, with degree programs at a branch campus in the rich cultural center of Florence, Italy, as well as online.
The next dean will have the opportunity to guide a community of dedicated and talented faculty, staff and students. As the school’s chief academic and administrative officer, the dean oversees ten undergraduate programs and two graduate degrees. The school is comprised of five departments, 47 full-time faculty, 17 full-time staff (including an associate and assistant dean), and approximately 70 part-time faculty, 1,400 undergraduate students, and 75 graduate students. Reporting to the Provost/Dean of faculty, the Dean is responsible for developing and implementing programs that bring students and distinction to Marist.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the academic community, although candidates with distinguished careers in the fields of communication or the arts will be carefully considered. Successful candidates will also be alert to the changing landscape in higher education, eager to embrace Marist’s signature commitment to merging the liberal arts with preprofessional programs, will possess an understanding of and an appreciation for creative works and the realities of the communications industries, and be keen to engage the challenges and satisfaction that comes in working with students from varying backgrounds. Proven experience in developing support and cultivating partnerships with internal and external constituencies is required, as is a record of progressively increasing responsibility and demonstrated leadership in a senior management role. Further, the new dean will be dedicated to the assessment of student learning and possess an unwavering commitment to student success. A terminal degree in a relevant field or comparable outstanding achievement in the private sector is required.

The School of Media & Communication at Western Kentucky University (WKU) invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor in Advertising and/or Public Relations.
This position carries an expectation of excellence in teaching with a 3/4 teaching load along with research/creative and service obligations, with the potential to eventually lead the Advertising and/or Public Relations programs. We seek an individual with the ability to guide students through the process of unlocking and efficiently communicating insights from data, and how those insights drive innovation and business goals. The nationally recognized School of Media & Communication at Western Kentucky University is seeking a full-time, nine-month, tenure-eligible appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Journalism. The successful candidate will be a reporter adept at storytelling with both traditional and cutting-edge technologies, will have experience in reporting for print and/or digital platforms, and will teach a variety of courses within the journalism major and core courses in the School of Media & Communication.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Serve as department coordinator for the journalism program, scheduling classes and managing workloads

The Department of Media & journalism at the University of South Dakota is seeking a highly qualified candidate to assume the position of Chair of the department, with the position to begin Fall 2025. Accredited by the ACEJMC since 1997, the Department offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees with concentrations in Journalism, Strategic Communication, Social Media Marketing, and Sport Marketing & Media. The Department also offers a Master of Communication degree. With 125 students and 7 full-time faculty members, the department is dedicated to preparing students for the challenges of an ever-changing industry.
The Media & Journalism Chair is responsible for the overall management, administration, and productivity of the Media & Journalism Department and programs within the department. This includes assuring the overall academic quality of program offerings, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating faculty and staff, strategic planning and budgeting. Associate Professor of Public Relations

The Department of Journalism and Public Relations at the University of Rhode Island is hiring an Associate Professor of Public Relations. The department seeks a teacher-scholar to join the dynamic faculty in the Harrington School of Communication and Media to begin Fall 2025. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and a record of scholarly publications to join the faculty at the rank of Associate Professor. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach advanced courses in public relations as well as required lower-level undergraduate courses. We aim to find a scholar with expertise in areas such as short-form video content, CSR/CSA, health/risk communication, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ), public diplomacy, international PR, internal/employee PR, or non-profit public relations. In addition to teaching and scholarship, faculty will engage in advising and service. Applicants with experience advising a PRSSA chapter or an honor society are encouraged to apply. Faculty members have opportunities to collaborate with a diverse group of scholars within the Harrington School, which offers programs in Communication Studies, Film/Media, Journalism, Library and Information Studies, Public Relations, Sports Media and Communication, and Professional and Public Writing. Students in the Harrington School learn how to become creative communicators, engaged citizens, and leaders in the communities they serve. The newly formed Department of Journalism and Public Relations includes Journalism with its long and distinguished history, producing award-winning practitioners for over 50 years; and its innovative and growing Public Relations degree program featuring three different professional tracks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach required courses in the public relations major as well as courses within the faculty member’s area of specialty. Conduct and publish research in the faculty member’s area of scholarship. Advise students on course selection, academic progress, and career planning. Undertake curriculum development and revision to help shape the public relations program and focus areas within the PR major. Participate in departmental, school, and university service. Establish external relationships with industry practitioners and alumni. Develop field-relevant experiential learning opportunities for students.

The position:
The focus of the tenure track professorship is on the history of media and communication. We are seeking excellent applicants who will cover communication and media in long-term temporal perspective and/or the history of communication studies, ideas, and theories. The tenure track professorship is open to all theoretical and methodological approaches. As the position is located in the Faculty of Social Sciences, applicants are expected to be able to connect to the social science orientation of the research environment. Communication science at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Vienna deals with processes in public communication (via the media) and their infrastructure conditions, as well as their impact on society and individuals. With a strong social and communication science orientation, the focus is on the dynamics and development of organizational forms, types, content, effects and consequences of processes of mediatized social communication in the past and present. Media and communication history has not only been an integral part of our research for a long time but is also an important subject area in teaching. We have a long-standing interdisciplinary cooperation with Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna, in which the cultural studies and social science approaches to media and communication history complement each other ideally.
