What changes do journalism and mass communication programs need to make in order to stay relevant today? What do you see for the future of journalism and mass communication both in general and in higher education?
2009 is a year of change. And nowhere is that more evident than on our college and university campuses and in our media professions. This August, journalism and mass communication educators from across the globe will gather in Boston to share tips and tactics to enhance your teaching, research and professional development skills.
But why wait until then?
Here’s your chance to contribute to the conversation today! Tell us in a creative* way what you think the future of journalism and mass communication holds.
*Creativity may be expressed in many ways — from writing a column or blog entry, to posting a video, or creating a visual aid or poster — it’s up to YOU!
E-mail your entry to AEJMCpr@aol.com by May 15, 2009. The TOP THREE entries will be chosen by a selection panel of media experts and posted online for a membership-wide vote. The final winner of the contest will be notified via e-mail on June 8. Only ONE entry per person is permitted.
The winning entry will receive:
- Complimentary Basic Registration to the 2009 AEJMC Boston Convention;
- Work directly with a UPI editor to produce an article or multimedia piece with a UPI byline;
- Showcase in the July issue of AEJMC News and on the AEJMC Web site.
Contestants do not need to be a member of AEJMC to enter the contest. Complimentary Basic Registration does not include cost of convention workshops, luncheons, hotel, food or other convention related costs. Current pre-convention registrants may enter the contest. Basic convention registration fee that has already been paid will be reimbursed to winner. Contact Mich Sineath with contest questions.
