About AEJMCAEJMC's mission is to promote the highest possible standards for journalism and mass communication education, to encourage the widest possible range of communication research, to encourage the implementation of a multi-cultural society in the classroom and curriculum, and to defend and maintain freedom of expression in day-to-day living. AEJMC holds an annual convention in August, featuring sessions on teaching, research and public service in the various components of journalism and mass communication -- from advertising and public relations to electronic and online journalism to media management and newspapers. Pre-convention workshops deal with teaching advertising, media ethics issues, incorporating diversity in the curriculum, teaching media management, and teaching visual communication. AEJMC also offers members the opportunity to affiliate with 17 divisions, 9 special interest groups and 2 commissions. These groups address a variety of interests in journalism and mass communication education, and feature newsletters, research competitions and convention programming in their respective areas. About the AEJMC Web siteA conscious effort has been made to make all major areas of the Web site readily accessible using the drop-down navigation menus near the top of the page.
